The story of Avandi Winery began in 1969, when it was established as the largest winery in the region. Following the collapse of the USSR, the winery was acquired by Shalva Nadashvili. Decades later, in 2017, Shalva’s son Simon Nadashvili and grandson Daniil Nadashvili reignited their family’s connection to winemaking, breathing new life into this storied estate.
They transformed the winery from its Soviet-era roots, abandoning outdated technologies and methods, while embracing the rich heritage of Georgian winemaking and seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology. This harmonious blend of tradition and innovation became the cornerstone of Avandi’s philosophy, crafting wines that honor the past while looking toward the future. Production
Two Distinct Winemaking Traditions
At Avandi, we embrace both modern and traditional winemaking methods, crafting wines that appeal to a variety of palates while preserving Georgia’s rich cultural heritage.
Modern Winery
In our state-of-the-art facility, we produce up to 1.5 million bottles annually. Equipped with advanced Italian technology, our modern winery ensures precision at every stage, from temperature-controlled fermentation to bottling. This approach allows us to deliver consistent, high-quality wines that reflect the best of Georgian winemaking.
Qvevri Winery
Our Qvevri wines celebrate Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions, utilizing large clay vessels for fermentation, aging, and filtration. This process excludes any technological interference, relying instead on natural fermentation without added yeast, sulfites, or acids. Producing Qvevri wines requires up to 15 times more manual labor per bottle, making each sip a true labor of love and craftsmanship. With a capacity of 150,000 bottles per year, our Qvevri winery is a testament to the authenticity and artistry of Georgian winemaking.
